As the expansion at Gatwick Airport progresses, we are proud to have supported this project and our client, Schneider Electric with the second installment of a full turn-key 11kV Substation. The sub-structure, measuring 10.7 meters by 3.7 meters, is elevated with a 900mm stilted unit and stairway.
We extend our gratitude to our lifting partner, Southern Cranes & Access Ltd, for their seamless on-off load operations. Logistically, two cranes were necessary for the lift to mitigate the risk of interference with the radar tower posed by a single, taller crane.
The airport is initiating a low impact way to unlock new capacity by utilising existing assets with the implementation of a second runway of what could serve 75 million passengers a year by 2038. 🙌
